Worms: Living Recycling Plants For Your Compost Heap
The worm species “Eisenia foetida”, also
known as tiger worms or red wiggler worms, is perfect for recycling organic waste. Day and night, this little helper eats its way through kitchen waste and fruit scraps, lopping and hay, dung and other organic waste
like hair or feathers. The worms are only 10 cm (4 in) long, but highly resilient to longer periods below 0 degrees Celsius.
Together with other micro-organisms, also known
as destruents, it decomposes organic matter into its single components.
The result, worm humus, can be used as a fresh
biofertilizer for plants, trees and bushes. It contains significant amounts of potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen and many other important nutrients. You will quickly notice the difference: With blazingly colourful
flowers, well grown plants and deeper rootings.
As a side effect, worm humus serves as a
natural protection against numerous illnesses and pests. It retains water better during warm and dry periods, thus preventing plants and trees from drying up.
For hobby gardeners who wish to build a new
compost pile, we recommend our “Compost Worm Starter Kit”. This kit consist of about 500 compost worms, three litres of soil containing micro-organisms (destruents) and detailed instructions on how to create and
manage the compost pile in a way that guarantees quick decomposition and inhibits the build-up of mould.
Moreover, we guarantee that our worms reach
their destination in living state. With a safe packaging and quick delivery, we make sure our worms stay fit and active.
