Canadian Giant Redworms: A real treat for your pets
Across the globe, the different species of worms
are a common food for reptiles, amphibians, birds and rodents almost on a daily base.
However, not every worm makes for a tasty and
appropriate feed additive. Some can even be dangerous for your pet.
To begin with, most of our domestic worms in
Europe excrete a “fear secretion†which makes them basically inedible. The fact that the Canadian giant redworm does not have such a protective mechanism makes it an ideal feed additive.
Secondly, the origin of the live food is of great
importance. For instance, it is not recommendable to use worms from your neighbour’s compost pile. Imagine worms as living chemical factories. They are unique when it comes to processing heavy metals, fertilizers
from fruit skins and other harmful substances, and finally producing humus, a high-grade biofertilizer. On the other hand, it is obvious that they can pose a real threat to your animal’s health, considering the
possibly hazardous material in their intestinal tract. Unfortunately, it is not very clear how long a worm needs to completely process certain substances. Pet owners, especially those who own exotic animals, are
therefore advised to make sure that their live food is completely safe.
In order to ensure that our giant redworms meet
these standards, we only breed on high quality soil, enriched with additional minerals and the most important trace elements. Thanks to a clean breeding ground that is free from contaminants and germs, our worms can
be fed to reptiles, amphibians, birds and rodents without hesitation.
During the breed, we take great caution to prevent
cross-contaminations with other worm species from happening. Thanks to this caution, we are able to guarantee a feed species of consistently high quality.
Moreover, we guarantee that our worms reach their
destination in living state. With a safe packaging and quick delivery, we make sure your worms stay fit and active.
